My Inner Martha

It's not often that I get a day to be just a mom but yesterday was one of those fabulous days.

On the weekends, Jake and I love to spend time together with Clayton which means more family time and less get stuff done time. And trust me, I would not want it any other way. But yesterday I had the day off and Jake was working. So yesterday my only job was being a mom and a wife, and if you ask me, I think I succeeded up until I screwed up dinner.

I started the morning catching up on recorded episodes of Martha Stewart. Yes I am guilty, I DVR Martha Stewart everyday. And happy I do, watched a segment on making a duvet that has inspired a gift. I even went to the fabric store this morning and bought the fabric. Stay tuned for further details. I am so excited!!

So having a one year old means toys everywhere. Our house is no different. On my never-ending to do list has been the desire to move the toys to Clayton's room but only after I buy some sort of storage. Here is a picture of the living room with the toys. It has gotten out of control but that ends today. To the store Clayton and I went and purchased a new storage shelf. A small Philips screwdriver and a hammer and tada!! New Shelving.

Here you go, the toys have a new home.

And our living room looks... well... like a living room again.

I am not that naive. I know the toys will end up back in the living room but now their permanent home is in Clayton's room.
I was inspired to continue my Martha Monday. After all in the background all day I was playing my recorded episodes of her show. (And feel free to judge. I needed something to do while Clayton napped and I folded clothes.) So I decided to roast a chicken for dinner. The recipe? Out of this month's Everyday Food - a Martha publication. It all came together so well, smelled so homemade and then I failed and did not cook it all the way through. I really hate cooking a whole chicken! No worries, I salvaged it but I was still irritated. After all Martha would never let this happen.

Overall I think I was pretty productive today. But the best part of my day?

You guessed it being a mom to this adorable face.

Thanks for reading. ~mrs. c
