Wordless Wednesday - The California Nut Festival was NUTS!!

The 2011 California Nut Festival took place Saturday April 16 on the historic Patrick Ranch Museum in Chico, California.

More than 1500 lovers of California nut inspired foods and local wine and beer took part in the one day epicurean extravaganza.

This was the line for the always popular Almond Butter Burger served by The Madison Bear Garden Restaurant from Chico. Rumor has it they grilled more than 1,100 burgers for the hungry crowd.

Local olive oil purveyor Jamie Johansson from Lodestar Farms was on hand to offer samples of his luscious local produced olive oil.

Everyone was equipped with a program, commemorative wine glass and tote bag.

Original Pete's was using local grown Blue Diamond almonds as evidenced by the can in the bottom left hand corner of the picture.

The Gooney Bird Bar and Grill offered everyone a serving of their Island Pie - a cookie crust topped with macadamia nut ice cream with a layer of chocolate sauce, a huge dollop of whip cream and a generous sprinkling of almonds of course!

Italian Guy Catering was back again this year and did not disappoint their fans.

And let's not forget Upper Crust Bakery. Makes you mouth water and dream of a cold glass of milk to go with it!

There were LOTS of people!

The Butte Folk Music Society made sure the two stages at the Festival always has fabulous music to entertain the masses.

Of course, a food festival would not be complete with out a cooking demonstration! Celebrity Chef Michael Tuohy from the acclaimed Grange Restaurant in Sacramento shared two wonderful  recipes - walnut pesto and almond romesco. Yum!!

It was a wonderful celebration of California nuts and local food. And if you missed it, well the good news is there is always 2012. Make plans now!
